ST. LOUIS (AP) - Erik Johnson scored the go-ahead goal against St. Louis, which traded him four days earlier, and the Colorado Avalanche broke a 10-game winless streak with a 4-3 victory against the Blues on Tuesday night at Scottrade Center.

Johnson, who was traded from St. Louis to Colorado as part of a four-player trade late Friday night, scored his first goal as a member of the Avalanche with 5:06 left in the third period to break a 2-2 tie.

Paul Stastny had the game-winning goal and added two assists, and Milan Hedjuk and David Jones also scored for Colorado.

Peter Budaj made 42 saves for his fifth consecutive win over St. Louis. As a team, the Avalanche earned its seventh consecutive victory over the Blues.

It looked as though Colorado had wrapped the game up when Stastny scored on a high backhand shot with 2:38 left to push the Avalanche's lead to 4-2. But Andy McDonald quickly brought the Blues within 4-3 with his 14th goal of the season 22 seconds later.

The Avalanche had been outscored 42-14 during its skid.

Colorado took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first 10:04 of the first period.

Jones tipped in a pass from Stastny for his career-best 20th goal of the season to open the scoring. Hedjuk followed with his team-high eighth power-play goal and 18th overall at the 10:04 mark. Hedjuk has scored at least 20 goals in each of the past 10 seasons.

St. Louis tied the game 2-2 on a power-play goal by newly acquired winger Chris Stewart with 2:40 remaining in the second period.

Patrik Berglund got St. Louis on the board at the 13:05 mark of the first period with his 16th goal of the season.  Berglund extended his point streak to a career-high seven games.

Notes: Matt Duchene, Colorado's leading scorer with 21 goals, returned to the lineup after missing two games due to a hand injury. ... The game was originally scheduled for Feb. 1, but was postponed due to a winter storm. ... McDonald played in his 600th NHL game. ... The Blues have scored at least one power-play goal in their past six games.
