DENVER (AP) - David Jones scored two goals, including the winner 2:52 into overtime, and the Colorado Avalanche snapped a four-game skid against Vancouver, beating the Canucks 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Jones lunged at the puck to score the decisive goal on a power play after Tomas Fleischmann sent a pass into the goal crease.
The Canucks had nearly killed off the interference penalty to Henrik Sedin before Jones knocked home his 16th goal of the season.
Craig Anderson finished with 40 saves to earn the victory for the Avalanche.
Alexander Edler, Ryan Kesler and Sergei Shirokov scored for the Canucks as the Western Conference leaders wrapped up a five-game road swing with a 2-2-1 mark.
Vancouver defenseman Keith Ballard had a solid scoring chance midway through the third period, hitting the post with a shot.
The Avs also killed off an interference penalty in the third period, something that hasn't been easy to do against the Canucks, who possess the top-ranked power play unit in the league on the road this season and had already scored twice with a man advantage.
After a tepid start, the game heated up midway through the second as Vancouver and Colorado combined for four goals.
Each time the Canucks grabbed the lead, the Avs answered right back.
Kesler scored his 25th goal of the season when he redirected a shot from Christian Ehrhoff past Anderson midway through the second period.
Moments later, Kevin Porter was hooked from behind by defenseman Kevin Bieksa on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot, only to be denied.
But Colorado would add the equalizer when Jones tapped in a rebound after Hejduk's shot sprang off the back boards and back in front of the net.
Shirokov scored his first NHL goal, knocking in a loose puck through the pads of Anderson and giving Vancouver yet another lead at 3-2.
Just 1:03 seconds later, the Avalanche tied it again as Hejduk's wrist shot trickled past Vancouver netminder Roberto Luongo on a power play.
Edler didn't take long getting the Canucks on the board, scoring on a power play 2:43 into the game as he beat Anderson from the left circle. Edler has two goals in the last three games.
Liles then scored later in the period, launching a wrist shot over the shoulder of Luongo. It was Liles' first goal since Dec. 7.
Colorado juggled around some of its lines with center Ryan O'Reilly (shoulder) out at least two weeks after crashing into the boards against the Minnesota Wild last Friday.
T.J. Galiardi stepped in and played center for O'Reilly on Tuesday.
NOTES: Although nearing a return, D Kyle Cumiskey missed his 35th straight game following a concussion suffered on Oct. 30. Avs coach Joe Sacco said after morning skate that Cumiskey is available to play, but still "needs a couple more days." ... Avs F Brandon Yip was a healthy scratch. ... The Canucks were without defensemen Andrew Alberts (right shoulder) and Aaron Rome, who will miss two-to-three weeks with a knee injury.
