DALLAS (AP) - Kevin Porter scored in the fifth round of the shootout and the Colorado Avalanche recovered after wasting a three-goal lead to beat the Dallas Stars, 4-3, on Saturday night.
Chris Stewart had a goal in the second round of the shootout for Colorado, but Dallas' Mike Ribeiro countered in the third.
Porter won it with a wrist shot that beat Kari Lehtonen to the stick side.
Peter Budaj made 26 saves for the Avalanche, 5-1 in their last six against the Stars.
James Neal's power-play goal that banked in off the skate of defenseman Ryan Wilson made it 3-3 at 10:02 of the third.
Adam Burish and Brenden Morrow scored 23 seconds apart in the second period to get Dallas' rally started.
Lehtonen stopped 23 shots for the Stars, whose five-game home-winning steak ended.
The Avalanche came off Friday's 5-1 home victory over the New York Rangers and played for the third time in four nights.
Hejduk capitalized 14 seconds into the game's first power play when he steered rookie Kevin Shattenkirk's centering pass by Lehtonen at 4:05 of the opening period.
With Morrow serving the second part of a double-minor for tripping and unsportsmanlike conduct, Hejduk made it 2-0 at 3:02 of the second period with his seventh goal of the season - redirecting Shattenkirk's setup.
Jones expanded the lead to 3-0 at 5:30 of the second, backhanding a rebound over Lehtonen.
Jones nearly had his second goal of the night a little more than four minutes into the third period when he skated in alone on Lehtonen, but the puck rolled off his stick as he tried to move it to his forehand.
Burish beat Budaj from beyond the right circle at 13:33 of the second, and Morrow's close-range goal on the next shift made it 3-2.
NOTES: Lehtonen was struck in the mask with a slap shot by Shattenkirk at 1:15 of the second period. Lehtonen was briefly stunned, but remained in the game after being attended to by a trainer. ... Lehtonen had the second assist on Burish's goal, his first point for the Stars. ... Dallas had won its first two shootouts this season. Colorado has won both of its tiebreakers.
