Avalanche-Wild Preview
Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild

GAME: Colorado Avalanche (34-22-6) at Minnesota Wild (29-28-5).

TIME: Sunday, 7 p.m. EST.

Minnesota Wild coach Jacques Lemaire earned career wins 398 and 399 in a span of three days. Collecting his 400th has not been as easy.

Lemaire and the Wild look to snap a four-game losing streak as they host the Colorado Avalanche at Xcel Energy Center.

Minnesota, 5-18-1 with three ties in the all-time series, has lost five of six games between the teams this season and been limited to seven goals in losing the most recent four contests.

Lemaire, the only coach in the Wild's five-year history, began his coaching career with Montreal in 1983-84, winning 48 games in two seasons before he resurfaced with New Jersey in 1993-94. He won 199 games with the Devils and led them to their first Stanley Cup title in 1995.

The 60-year-old has garnered 152 victories with Minnesota.

Before the Olympic break, Lemaire notched his 398th win in a 5-1 decision Feb. 7 over Los Angeles, followed by No. 399 in a 6-3 victory Feb. 10 against Edmonton.

The win over the Oilers kicked off a five-game road trip, but Minnesota lost the final four games on the trip, the latest a 4-2 defeat Friday to Anaheim.

Todd White and Marian Gaborik each scored, but goaltender Dwayne Roloson allowed the game-winner by Sandis Ozolinsh with just over 7 minutes to play.

Roloson dropped to 3-13-0 in his last 16 decisions.

"I thought we've played pretty well the past two games, but we haven't been rewarded for it," defenseman Willie Mitchell said. "We need to find a way to win these types of games."

Roloson, making just his sixth start in the last two months, was playing in place of Manny Fernandez. Fernandez was rested on the day he agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the team.

Colorado began a stretch of nine of 10 games on the road with a 5-3 loss Saturday to Dallas.

The Avalanche, who had won five of their previous six, trailed 4-1 after two periods before Milan Hejduk and Rob Blake netted third-period power-play goals.

Dallas' Brenden Morrow put the game away with a goal in the final minute.

Avalanche goalie Peter Budaj made 26 saves in his first start since Feb. 10.

Budaj got the nod over David Aebischer, who was given the night off after starting 19 of the previous 21 games.

Aebischer, 13-4-2 with a 2.40 GAA over that span, likely will get the call against the Wild. He is 9-2-0 with a 2.13 GAA against them lifetime.
