GAME: Colorado Avalanche (16-9-5-1) at Los Angeles Kings (16-11-2-3).

TIME: Saturday, 10:30 p.m. EST.

Having earned points in all but one of their last eight games, the surging Los Angeles Kings will try to stretch their home unbeaten streak to six when they meet the Colorado Avalanche.

Los Angeles, which is 4-1-1-2 in its last eight overall, had a four-game home winning streak snapped with a disappointing 4-4 tie against Phoenix on Thursday. The Kings squandered a three-goal lead, yielding the tying tally with just 1:10 left in regulation.

"We got off to a good start, and I think we felt way too comfortable and too good about ourselves," Kings captain Mattias Norstrom said. "We let them back into the game -- a game we're outshooting them, outplaying them and outscoring them."

Norstrom ended a 113-game goal-scoring drought with 4:54 left in the third period, but the Kings were unable to hold off the Coyotes down the stretch as Ladislav Nagy netted the equalizer with 70 seconds to go.

"This is a tough tie," Kings goalie Cristobal Huet said. "We didn't get the job done the last part of the game."

Los Angeles has not lost on home ice since a 4-0 setback to defending Stanley Cup champion New Jersey on Nov. 25.

The Avalanche have lost two straight following an eight-game unbeaten streak, including Friday's 1-0 loss at Anaheim.

David Aebischer yielded a first-period power-play goal to Sergei Fedorov and Colorado was unable to cash in on any of its five chances with the power play, dropping consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 22-24.

Avalanche center Paul Kariya didn't make the trip to Anaheim because of wrist injury that has forced him to miss 24 games this season. Colorado also was without Peter Forsberg, who is out with a groin injury. Unlike Kariya, Forsberg made the trip but did not play.
