DENVER (AP) - Rookie Matt Duchene scored his second goal of the game with 4:33 left, Craig Anderson made 33 saves and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 Friday night for their fourth consecutive victory.

Duchene, the third overall pick in the June draft, redirected Brett Clark's shot from the blue line past Ilya Bryzgalov for the winning score. The NHL rookie goals leader, Duchene boosted his total to 20 with his fifth multi-goal game of the season.

It was the Avs' second win in two games against Phoenix this season. The Coyotes lost for only the second time in their last 10 games.

Phoenix tied it at 1-1 on Martin Hanzal's rebound shot at 4:24 of the second.

The Coyotes missed a chance to go ahead later in the second when Anderson used his glove to deflect Radim Vrbata's wrist shot on a breakaway.

Midway through the first period, Duchene found himself open in front of the net and banged home the rebound of a Chris Stewart shot from the circle. Duchene hit the puck clean with his stick, shooting it past Bryzgalov's glove for the Avalanche's NHL-leading eighth goal with a man-advantage.

Still, it was only the third time Colorado had scored a power-play goal in its last 28 chances over nine games.

NOTES: Both teams have one game remaining before the NHL's Olympic break. ... Colorado defenseman John-Michael Liles was a healthy scratch for a fourth consecutive game. ...
