Milan Hejduk then gave the Avs a 2-1 advantage at the 6:35 mark of the middle frame when he tipped home a
John-Michael Liles point shot only four seconds after an Edmonton penalty had expired.
Ales Hemsky’s goal at 7:16 again evened the game for the Oilers before Svatos notched the game-winner just over four minutes later.
The Avalanche defense held Edmonton to just 16 shots on the evening.
