Mike Morrison's NHL career is off to a very good start.

Morrison looks to keep his perfect record intact as his surging Oilers put a three-game winning streak on the line against the visiting Colorado Avalanche.

Recalled from the minors on Oct. 24, Morrison has played in six games and won all four of his starts. He led the Oilers to three straight wins - two by shootout - last week, posting a 1.58 goals-against average and .933 save percentage. He was named NHL defensive player of the the week Monday.

"To get that honor is great," Morrison said. "I think with the way the team is playing it should be more like defensive team of the week. The guys played really solid in front of me all week."

Morrison made his first career start against Colorado on Nov. 14 and stopped 31 of 33 shots to earn his first win.

"We threw him to the wolves in Colorado and that's always a tough building to win in as well," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said. "He's shown a lot of composure."

Fernando Pisani scored the deciding goal to give Edmonton a 2-1 shootout win over Calgary on Friday.

Radek Dvorak also scored for the Oilers, winners of three straight and five of six.

Edmonton has managed to win its last three games despite going scoreless on 13 power-play chances in that span.

Oilers defenseman Chris Pronger missed Friday's game with a bruised knee and is listed as day-to-day.

While the Oilers look to win their fourth in a row, the Avalanche hope to stretch their win streak to three.

Colorado scored four first-period goals, including Milan Hejduk's tally 11 seconds into the game, en route to a 6-2 win over visiting Vancouver on Sunday.

The victory followed a 5-0 win over Columbus on Friday, giving the Avalanche 11 goals in two games.

Joe Sakic had two goals while Andrew Brunette and Dan Hinote each scored once. Marek Svatos also scored, giving him five goals and five assists during a seven-game points streak.

Avalanche goaltender David Aebischer has made 73 saves in the last two games after sitting the previous two.

"Anytime you're not playing, you're not happy," Aebischer said. "But you know you're going to get to play again at some point. I kept on working at it and I came out and I think I've played pretty well the last two games."
