Appeared in a career-high 43 games in his first season with the Avalanche, tallying one goal and 84 penalty minutes…Finished second on the club in penalty minutes and major penalties (12)…Dressed in 28 of the first 29 games, including a streak of 26 consecutive games from Oct. 10 to Dec. 2…Scored his only goal of the season (second career) on Oct. 28 at Calgary…Had a season-high 20 PIM and a game misconduct on Dec. 15 vs. Washington… Skated in his 100th NHL game on Jan. 18 vs. Edmonton…Suffered a hand injury on Feb. 8 vs. St. Louis, forcing him to miss 17 games from Feb. 10 to March 28…Placed on IR, Feb. 9 and activated on April 1…Appeared in his first game in two months on April 7 at Edmonton. PERSONAL
David resides in the Czech Republic during the offseason…During the Tampa Bay Lightning’s trip to Prague for the 2008-09 season opener, Koci and a few of his teammates made a visit to “Jedlickova Ustavu a Skol,” a school for the mentally and physically challenged…He participated in a game of wheelchair hockey with the children and stayed afterwards to sign autographs…Last name is pronounced KO-chee.
