Hometown: Palatine, Illinois
How long have you been ice skating: I started when I was three, my mom was tired of holding me back when I kept trying to run onto the ice when my brother was in skate school so she signed me up the second I was old enough.
Best moment in skating career/hockey career: Becoming a figure skating coach, it’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had and my students teach me more than I could have ever imagined.
Most listened to song on your ipod: Luke Bryan’s Country Girl, it’s impossible not to dance and sing along… this might not be so good when I’m driving…
Place you’d most like to travel to:The Czech Republic, I’m 25% Czech so it’d be amazing to learn more about the culture from the inside.
Hobbies/Hidden Talents: In my free time I like to spend time with my dog outside, running, hiking or going to the dog park (Though I’m still learning how to “actually” be outdoorsy, Chicago suburbs aren’t quite like Colorado).
Favorite Food: Mac and Cheese
Favorite Movie: Pitch Perfect, but this changes daily.
Pets: I have a 3 year old black lab named Gilmore. He’s a 65 pound lap dog who’s number one goal is to make you happy. He’s spoiled rotten, but he deserves it because he puts a smile on my face more times in a day then I could possibly count.
Most influential person in your life: My Babi (Grandma). She has been there for me since the moment I was born. She’s one of my biggest cheerleaders in every life decision I’ve made and has taught me so much more then she’ll ever realize. She’s now in her early 80’s and makes it to the gym multiple times a week (if I make it once a month at that age I’ll be impressed with myself). She’s strong, independent, beautiful, loving, faith driven, and has played one of the most important roles in my life for the last 21 years and for the rest of my life. I hope someday to be half the woman she is today.
What accomplishment are you most proud of: I’m most proud of being 1000 miles away from my family and holding it together. It’s really hard to not have my mom, dad, Babi and brother there to guide me through life every day, but I’m doing it and I like to believe I’m thriving.
