Colorado Avalanche license plates will be available January 1, 2012 at your County Motor Vehicle office.
All Colorado residents who make a $45 donation to Kroenke Sports Charities will be eligible to purchase Colorado Avalanche signature license plate. Kroenke Sports Charities will issue an approval certificate confirming the donation has been received. In order to receive your Colorado Avalanche license plate an individual must present to their County Motor Vehicle Office the Colorado Avalanche approval certificate proving donation was paid. Standard specialty license plate fees and taxes (annually) as assessed by your county DMV will apply.
Kroenke Sports Charities is the official charity of your Colorado Avalanche. Kroenke Sports Charities is a Colorado based 501c3 organization committed to improving the lives of families and children in Colorado. Our strategic community investment is in many forms: support of education, health and youth sports programs, donation of autographed merchandise and tickets, appearances by our players, coaches, alumni and the personal service of our employees. Funds from purchasers of the Special Group license plates will be used to help fund non-profit programs and services in Colorado.

No, due to the high demand for Colorado Avalanche plates, please allow 2-4 weeks for processing your application and donation. Your approval certificate will be sent to the same address that your vehicle is registered via U.S. Postal Service.
Can I take my application and donation to the Department of Motor Vehicles?
No, the DMV cannot accept the donation to Kroenke Sport Charities. Please complete the application and donation online or via mail.
Can I purchase a Colorado Avalanche license plate if I don’t have an approval certificate?
No, the DMV will not issue Colorado Avalanche license plates to anyone without a Colorado Avalanche approval certificate.
Do I have to wait until my current vehicle registration is expired to purchase a Colorado Avalanche license plate?
No, you can take your approval certificate to the DMV at anytime. The DMV will issue a credit for any unused months left on your registration.
My current vehicle registration expires in a week, what can I do?
Go ahead and renew your current license plates. Once you receive your approval certificate you can take it to the DMV and transfer your registration to the Colorado Avalanche plates.

Initially there will be a limited number of Colorado Avalanche license plates available at each Colorado County DMV office. If your DMV office runs out of Colorado Avalanche license plates before you get yours there may be a delay of a few months as they replenish their stock.
If I want to have Colorado Avalanche license plates on more than one vehicle do I need to complete more than one application?
Yes, you will need to complete an application and make a $45 donation for each set of license plates you purchase. One set of plates per vehicle consists of (1) front plate and (1) rear plate.

I currently have Handicap Plates on my vehicle. Am I able to keep my handicap plates and still have a Colorado Avalanche license plate?
No, you will not be able to keep the Handicap plates on the vehicle that you put on the Colorado Avalanche license plate. You can have the Handicap plate alone or the Colorado Avalanche license plate with Handicap Placards. Contact your DMV for assistance and the application for Handicap Placards.
If I live out of state may I purchase a Colorado Avalanche license plate?
