A weekly look at how Avalanche prospects are doing for their respective clubs.

Lake Erie Monsters
The Lake Erie Monsters concluded their preseason on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins in Windsor, Ontario. Mark Olver and Markus Lauridsen scored on the power play for Lake Erie while Stefan Elliot, Paul Carey, Michael Sgarbossa and Olver had assists.

Calvin Pickard made 27 saves in the shutout victory for the Monsters.

The two teams opened up the preseason on Saturday in Plymouth, Mich., with Grand Rapids taking a 3-2 shootout win. The Griffins won the shootout 1-0.

Mitchell Heard and Gabriel Beaupre scored goals for the Monsters on Saturday, while Trevor Cheek, Colin Smith and Duncan Siemens chipped in assists.

Lake Erie used two goalies in the first preseason game, with Kieran Millan getting the start and making 18 saves on 19 shots. Kent Patterson played the final half of the contest and made 19 saves on 20 shots and stopped four-of-five shooters in the shootout.

The Monsters begin their regular season on Friday against Abbotsford in Cleveland.

Chris Bigras
(Owen Sound Attack): In his return to Owen Sound after participating in the Avalanche's preseason, Bigras scored a goal and had two assists in a 7-5 loss to Barrie Colts on Thursday. Bigras helped Owen Sound defeat the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday with a 7-6 victory in overtime.

Joseph Blandisi (Ottawa 67’s): Blandisi hit the ice with a vengeance Sunday night after coming back from a one-game suspension. Blandisi led the Ottawa 67’s to a 3-2 victory over the Niagara IceDogs with a pair of goals, including the game-winning tally with less than six minutes remaining in the third period.

Michael Clarke (Peterborough Petes): Clarke aided in the Petes' 5-4 victory Friday night against the Kitchener Rangers. Peterborough had a lost the previous night, 8-5, to the Plymouth Whalers.

Spencer Martin (Mississauga Steelheads): Martin picked up wins in two contests that saw extra time over the weekend. He made 37 saves in both Mississauga's 4-3 shootout win over Belleview on Friday and 5-4 overtime win on Sunday.

Troy Bourke
(Prince George Cougars): Bourke and the Prince George Cougars split their weekend set against the Kamloops Blazers. Bourke had a goal and an assist in Saturday night's 3-1 victory for Prince George.

Mason Geertsen (Vancouver Giants): Geertsen has not played since Vancouver's first game of the season due to an upper-body injury. He participated in Monday's practice for the Giants and is looking to return to the ice for Friday's game versus the Brandon Wheat Kings. Vancouver lost to Seattle and Everett last week.

Will Butcher
(University of Denver): Butcher will begin his college career on Sunday as Denver takes on the University of New Brunswick in an exhibition contest. DU's first regular season games are Oct. 11-12 versus Merrimack.

Nate Condon (University of Minnesota): Condon and the Minnesota Gophers will take on Lethbridge in an exhibition contest on Saturday. The Gophers open the regular season on Oct. 11 at home against Mercyhurst in the Ice Breaker Tournament.

Luke Moffatt (University of Michigan): Moffatt and the University of Michigan will face off against the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday in an exhibition game. Michigan opens the season on Oct. 10 against Boston College.

Ben Storm (St. Cloud State University): The St. Cloud State Huskies welcome Storm as a freshman this season. The squad begins the regular season on Oct. 11 against Bemidji State University.

Gus Young (Yale University Bulldogs): Young and the Bulldogs will take on Ontario Tech in an exhibition contest on Saturday, Oct. 19. Yale, the defending national champions, opens the season on Oct. 25 against Brown at the Liberty Invitational in Newark, N.J.

Jonas Holos
(Lokomotiv Yaroslavl): Holos and Lokomotiv lost both games this past weekend. Lokomotiv fell to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod 5-0 on Friday and to Ak Bars Kazan 2-0 on Sunday. Lokomotiv also lost 3-2 to Vityaz on Tuesday.

Denis Parshin (Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod): Parshin aided in Torpedo’s 5-0 victory over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl with two assists on Friday. Torpedo fell to Severstal Cherepovets 2-0 on Sunday but bounced back with a 5-2 win Tuesday against SKA St. Petersburg.

Tomas Vincour (Ak Bars Kazan): Vincour has helped Ak Bars to three wins in five days. After Vincour picked up an assist in Friday's 1-0 win versus Severstal, Ak Bars defeated Lokomotiv 2-0 on Sunday and Atlant Moscow Region 4-2 on Tuesday.

Luke Walker (Medvescak Zagreb): Walker scored a goal in Medvescak's 3-2 win Saturday over Barys Astana. Medvescak also won 2-1 against Ugra last Thursday and 3-0 against Automobilist on Monday.

Wilhelm Westlund
(Farjestads BK Karlstad): After losing 4-3 in a shootout on Thursday to Skelleftea AIK, Westlund's Farjestads team defeated MODO Hockey 2-1 on Saturday.
