Colorado Avalanche prospects begin the 2013-14 season
Lake Erie Monsters
The Lake Erie Monsters began training camp today in Cleveland. Of the 38 players who will attend the camp, 24 of them also participated in the Avalanche's camp.
The Monsters will play two preseason games against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday and Sunday before beginning the regular season with three games in three days. Lake Erie will play Abbotsford at home on Oct. 4-5 and play in Toronto on Oct. 6.
Joseph Blandisi (Ottawa 67’s): Blandisi aided in Ottawa's 5-4 victory Friday night against the Belleville Bulls, with a goal and an assist. The 67's fell to the North Bay Battalion 4-3 on Sunday, where Blandisi had seven penalty minutes.
Michael Clarke (Peterborough Petes): Clarke helped the Petes to their first victory of the regular season against the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night. The Petes took home the win with a final score of 4-3.
Spencer Martin (Mississauga Steelheads): The Steelheads took on the Niagara Icedogs last Thursday night and came away with a 6-5 victory. Following the Avalanche's preseason game against Anaheim on Wednesday, and after a long day of travel, Martin stepped in for the Mississauga starting goalie after he let in two goals in the first two minutes of the game. Martin ended up getting the win after playing 60:32 and making 29 saves.
Troy Bourke (Prince George Cougars): The Cougars began their regular season last weekend with Bourke leading the team to its first victory on Sunday night. Bourke had both goals in Prince George's 2-1 win over the Tri-City Americans. He also had an assist on Saturday night against the Everett Silvertips. The Cougars fell 8-3 to the Silvertips and 9-2 to the Portland Winterhawks on Friday. Bourke was also named team captain of Prince George prior to Friday's matchup.
Mason Geertsen (Vancouver Giants): The Giants and the Victoria Royals played two games back-to-back over the weekend, with each club coming away with a win. The Giants lost Friday night, 4-2, with Geertsen serving two penalty minutes. Geertsen was not in the lineup the next night as the Giants beat the Royals 2-1. Geertsen also played in last Wednesday’s Avalanche preseason opener against the Ducks and had a plus-1 rating.
Denis Parshin (Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod): Parshin aided in the Torpedo’s 2-1 victory Saturday night against CSKA Moscow, as well as their 3-2 win over Dinamo Riga on Monday. He had three points (1g/2a) in his first six games of the season.
Tomas Vincour (Ak Bars Kazan): Vincour and Ak Bars lost 2-1 to the Slovan Bratislava Monday night.
Luke Walker (Medvescak Zagreb): Medvescak and Luke Walker took on Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Friday night and came out with a 3-2 victory in a shootout. On Sunday, they fell 3-2 to Atlant Moscow in overtime. On Tuesday night, Medvescak pulled out another shootout victory, this time against SKA Saint Petersburg.
Jonas Holos (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl): Lokomotiv faced off against Dinamo Minsk on Sunday, with Holos aiding in its 4-1 win with an assist. He had four points (1g/3a) in his first seven KHL games this season.
Wilhelm Westlund (Farjestad BK): Farjestad lost 3-2 to Leksands IF on Saturday, dropping its record to 1-3. Westlund had yet to play in a game this season.
