Avalanche At The 2013 NHL Draft
Colorado Is Slotted To Pick Four Times In The First 93 Selections
The 2013 NHL Draft will be held this Sunday, June 30, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The draft begins at 1:00 p.m. MT.
The NBC Sports Network presents live coverage of the draft starting at 1:00 p.m. MT, while NHL Network in the U.S. continues live late-round coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. MT.
The Avalanche holds the No. 1 overall selection after winning the NHL Draft Lottery on April 29. Colorado has never had the No. 1 overall pick since the franchise relocated from Quebec prior to the 1995-96 season. The Avalanche/Nordiques franchise has drafted first overall on three previous occasions: 1989 (Mats Sundin), 1990 (Owen Nolan) and 1991 (Eric Lindros). The Avalanche’s previous high draft pick came in 2011, when the club selected Gabriel Landeskog with the second overall choice.
Colorado enters the draft with a pick in each of the seven rounds, which includes the first round (1st overall), second round (32nd), third round (63rd), fourth round (93rd), fifth round (123rd), sixth round (153rd) and seventh round (183rd).
