Vincour Off To A Good Start At Lake Erie

Acquiring Tomas Vincour looks to be paying huge dividends for the Colorado Avalanche and the Lake Erie Monsters.

Vincour has scored four goals and has dished out five assists (nine points) in the four games since joining Lake Erie. He has significantly contributed to the Monsters’ season-long five-game win streak that they are currently on.

Some of Vincour’s success with Lake Erie can be attributed to his new linemate, Paul Carey. Carey and Vincour have combined to record 15 points (seven goals and eight assists) in the last four games. Vincour is on a four-game point streak while Carey has points in the last five games.

“I guess me and Carey, we’ve found chemistry already, even in the first game,” Vincour said after Saturday night’s 3-2 victory over Hamilton. “I know where he is going to be because he knows where I am going to go and that always helps you out in games.”

A day before the NHL Trade Deadline on April 2, Vincour was traded from the Dallas Stars to the Avalanche in exchange for Cameron Gaunce. Dallas drafted Vincour in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2009 Entry Draft.

The Brno, Czech Republic native has scored two or more points in all four games with Lake Erie this season. Before being traded, Vincour had tallied 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) in 47 games this year with the Texas Stars.

In his third professional season, Vincour played 117 career games with the Texas Stars, collecting 30 goals and 26 assists (56 points). He has seven goals and eight assists in 86 career NHL games with the Dallas Stars.

He was the first Edmonton Oil Kings (of the WHL) player to be drafted by an NHL team. The St. Louis Blues drafted his cousin, Libor Zabransky, in the 1995 Entry Draft.

Vincour is excited to build more chemistry with his new teammates for the rest of the season and into the offseason. He stated, “From what I have seen lately, it’s a great group of guys; guys that are going to compete and work for each other.”

Lake Erie has two games remaining in the regular season, Friday versus Chicago and Saturday versus Grand Rapids. Even though the Monsters were eliminated from playoff contention, Vincour still plans on finishing the season on a good note.

“You are not playing individually, you are playing for your name,” Vincour said. “But you want to win, win like a team, because when you are winning, it’s always fun.”
