Avalanche Farm Report: Oct. 9

Lake Erie Monsters
The Lake Erie Monsters split their preseason series against the Grand Rapids Griffins this past weekend, winning 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Toledo, Ohio, and losing 4-2 on Sunday, Oct. 7 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Brad Malone, Paul Carey and Barry Goers found the back of the net in the first of two games, while netminders Sami Aittokallio (33:37 Mins, 20 SA/19 SV) and Kieran Millan (26:23 Mins, 11 SA/11 SV) split duties.

Paul Carey scored his second goal in as many games and Tyson Barrie found the back of the net in the preseason finale (4-2 loss) at Yost Arena in Ann Arbor. Calvin Pickard started the game and stopped 20-of-21 shots while Kent Patterson played the final 31:19, stopping 15-of-17 shots.

Lake Erie opens the regular season at home on Friday, Oct. 12 against Oklahoma City. The Monsters’ opening night roster can be found here: LEM Opening Night Roster

Denver Cutthroats
The Denver Cutthroats (Central Hockey League) are holding training camp this week. Avalanche goaltending prospects Kieran Millan and Kent Patterson are attending the Cutthroats’ inaugural camp.

WHL
Colin Smith
(Kamloops Blazers) has earned four points (1g/3a) in his last two games and currently ranks second on the team and tied for fifth in the WHL with 11 points (3g/8a) in six contests. Smith ranks second in the league in assists (8) and power-play helpers (5). The Blazers are 5-0-0-1 and are in second place in the Western Conference.

Troy Bourke (Prince George Cougars) has appeared in six games for the Cougars, tallying five points (2g/3a). The Cougars are tied for third in the Western Conference with a 4-1-1 record.

Duncan Siemens (Saskatoon Blades) has tallied two points (0g/2a) through the first seven games of the season. The Blades are currently 2-5-0.

OHL
Michael Clarke
(Windsor Spitfires) has appeared in all eight games for the club, ranking second on the team in goals (3). Windsor ranks second in the Western Division with a 3-3-0-2 record.

Garrett Meurs (Plymouth Whalers) is tied for fourth on the team with five points (2g/3a) through five games. Plymouth’s record is 2-1-1-1.

Joseph Blandisi (Owen Sound Attack) has earned five points (2g/3a) and a +3 plus/minus rating through seven games this season. Owen Sound sits in first place in the Western Conference with a 5-1-0-1 record (second overall in the OHL).

QMJHL
Gabriel Beaupre
(Val-d’Or Foreurs) will be joining the Denver Cutthroats’ training camp. Beaupre went scoreless in four games with the Foreurs before attending the Lake Erie Monsters’ training camp last week.

Dillon Donnelly (Shawinigan Cataractes) has two points (0g/2a) through six games and ranks third on the team with 13 penalty minutes.

KHL
Denis Parshin
(CSKA Moscow) has earned two points (1g/1a) in nine games. CKSA is 9-5-0 this season.

Sweden
Joachim Nermark
(Linkoping HC) has appeared in eight of Linkoping’s nine games this season.

NCAA
Nate Condon (University of Minnesota) and the Gophers won their exhibition game against Lethbridge, 7-0, on Oct 6. The Gophers are currently ranked No. 1 in this week’s USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and will open the regular season at home on Friday, Oct. 12 against Michigan State.

Luke Moffatt (University of Michigan) is expected to play in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Oct. 9 against Windsor before beginning the regular season against the Rochester Institute of Technology on Thursday, Oct. 11.

Gus Young (Yale) will begin regular season play on Friday, Oct. 26 when the Bulldogs face Dartmouth in the Ivy Showcase at Brown University. Yale will face either Princeton or Brown in the Ivy Shootout on Oct. 27 in Providence, Rhode Island.
