Avalanche Farm Report: September 25

Lake Erie Monsters
The Lake Erie Monsters will open their regular season on Friday, Oct. 12, when they host the Oklahoma City Barons. Prior to the start of the regular season, the Monsters will play two exhibition games against the Grand Rapids Griffins, Oct. 6-7.

WHL
Colin Smith
(Kamloops Blazers) has gotten off to a hot start, leading his team in scoring with five points (1g/4a) through two games. Smith, the Avalanche’s seventh-round draft choice this year, is tied for fourth in league scoring. He recorded four points (1g/3a) in the season-opening 6-5 overtime win against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday, Sept. 21, and added an assist in the 3-2 win against the Rockets on Saturday. The 19-year-old was named an alternate captain on September 12, marking his first year wearing a letter.

Troy Bourke (Prince George Cougars) has tallied one assist through the team’s first two games. The Cougars are off to a strong start after defeating the Everett Silvertips in the season opener 6-0 on Saturday, Sept. 22, and following that up with a 7-6 shootout win over Everett on Sunday.

Duncan Siemens (Saskatoon Blades) has posted four PIM through the club’s first two games. The Blades are 1-1 after splitting their first two games with the Prince Albert Raiders.

OHL
Michael Clarke
(Windsor Spitfires) scored a goal in each of the Spitfires’ first two games. Clarke was the lone goal scorer in the season-opening loss to the Owen Sound Attack on Thursday, Sept. 20. He added another goal on Monday, Sept. 24, to help Windsor pick up the win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Garrett Meurs (Plymouth Whalers) has opened the season with two points (1g/1a) and a +1 rating through the first two games. The Whalers are 0-2 after falling to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-5 in the season opener on Friday, Sep. 21, and dropping their second game 3-2 to the Belleville Bulls on Monday, Sept. 24.

Joseph Blandisi (Owen Sound Attack) did not play in the season opener but tallied an assist and a +2 rating in the team’s 5-2 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday, Sept. 22. Owen Sound is 2-0.

QMJHL
Gabriel Beaupre
(Val-d’Or Foreurs) opened the year on Friday, Sept. 21, with a 4-3 shootout victory over the visiting Victoriaville Tigres. The Foreurs fell to 1-1-0 for the season on Saturday after being defeated 3-2 by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Beaupre has recorded four PIM through two games.

Dillon Donnelly (Shawinigan Cataractes) has opened the season by recording four PIM and a -2 rating in two games. The defending Memorial Cup Champion Cataractes are 0-2 after a season-opening 4-3 loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Friday, Sept. 21, and another 4-3 defeat to the Rimouski Oceanic on Saturday, Sept. 22.

KHL
Denis Parshin
(CSKA Moscow) has recorded two points (1g/1a) while playing in eight of the club’s first nine games. CSKA is off to a 6-3 start to the season.

Sweden
Joachim Nermark
(Linkoping HC) has appeared in all five games, helping his club to a 3-2 start.

NCAA
Nate Condon (University of Minnesota), Luke Moffatt (University of Michigan) and Gus Young (Yale) will begin their respective seasons in October.
