Practice Report (Feb. 21)

It was an encouraging sight for Avs fans to see TJ Galiardi, Peter Mueller, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere all on the ice with the team during this morning's practice.

Both Galiardi and Mueller wore non-contact jerseys, and Giguere platooned with Semyon Varlamov and Cedrick Desjardins

"I’m feeling really good.  I’m pretty close to being ready to go.  I knew this thing would just be a matter of days," said Giguere, after practice.  "I’d like to talk to the [training] staff first, clear it out with them, and see where we’re at.  I was able to go through an hour and a half of practice without holding back, so these are all good signs."

Giguere said he also skated with the team in Winnipeg, and believes he caught the groin issue just in time.

"I’ve been through it before," said Giguere.  "The good thing is I knew it wasn’t something that would keep me out for a long time.  I think I caught it right on time.  It was probably the right thing to do to get out [of the game], at that point."

Matt Duchene skated on a line with Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan O'Reilly -- a line that was put together midway through the second period of Sunday's game in Winnipeg.

"I actually felt better as the game went on.  I was pleasantly surprised with that, that’s for sure.  [My body] still feels good," said Duchene, when asked about how it felt being back in action.  "I’ve still had some aches and pains but they’re in other parts of my body from trying to get back and playing.  There’s nothing to simulate skating.  I’m trying to manage those things almost even more than my knee.  My knee’s been good so far, and, knock on wood, hopefully it keeps staying the way it is."

The line combinations during practice were as follows:

Forwards
Duchene - O'Reilly - Landeskog
Jones - Stastny - Hejduk
Olver - Porter - Winnik
McLeod - Kobasew - Van Der Gulik - McClement
Galiardi - Mueller -- non-contact jerseys

Defense (in no particular order)
Quincey - Johnson - O'Brien - Wilson - Hejda - O'Byrne - Hunwick

Goaltenders
Giguere - Varlamov - Desjardins

The Avs host the visiting Los Angeles Kings in a brief one-game homestand tomorrow (Feb. 22) before hitting the road for back-to-back contests in Columbus (Friday) and Detroit (Saturday).
