Avalanche Farm Report: Oct. 3
Spotlight On: Duncan Siemens
After being drafted in the first round (11th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, defenseman Duncan Siemens' summer schedule was anything but routine.

The 18-year-old participated in an Avalanche development camp (July), a Team Canada World Junior Championship development camp (August) and two more camps with the NHL club, plus one preseason game (September).

Upon his return to Saskatoon (WHL), Siemens was named captain of the Blades, becoming the 52nd player in the team's history to don the 'C'.

Siemens currently ranks second among Blades defensemen with two points (0-2=2) in 3 GP.

Lake Erie Monsters
The Monsters played back-to-back preseason games against the Charlotte Checkers on Friday and Saturday, dropping both contests.

Lake Erie failed to get on the scoreboard in the preseason opener, falling to the Checkers by a score of 2-0.

Despite holding a one-goal lead for nearly half of the second game, the Monsters lost to the Checkers, 3-1.  Goaltender Trevor Cann turned aside 28-of-30 shots.

The Lake Erie Monsters open the 2011-12 regular season at home against the Abbotsford Heat on Friday night.  The two teams will meet again on Saturday.
