The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired a second-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs. In exchange for the pick, the Avalanche gave up the services of defenseman John-Michael Liles.
Liles, 30, has spent seven seasons with the Avalanche, collecting 275 points (68g/207a) in 523 games. The Indianapolis native was Colorado’s eighth choice (159th overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft.
Toronto’s second-round pick was previously acquired (originally Boston’s choice).
