Quarterfinal 1: #1 David Jones vs. #25 David Jones
Two goals by the forward (he has three total plays among the eight quarterfinalists) go up against each other in the round of eight.

#1 Jones Caps Things Off – 4/10 vs. Edmonton (73.44% in Week 27)
David Jones closed out the Avalanche’s season and sent captain Adam Foote out as a winner when he netted an overtime goal against Edmonton. Jones went to his backhand to knock home the rebound of a Matt Duchene shot, setting a new franchise record in the process with his third OT tally of the season.

#25 Jones’ Spinning Backhand – 10/12 @ Detroit (35.76% in Week 1)
David Jones scored his second goal of the game on this creative move. Matt Duchene carried the puck into the offensive zone and dropped a pass to Brandon Yip at the right point. Yip then made a feed into the slot to Jones, who corralled the pass, spun to his right and put a low backhander past Jimmy Howard.

Quarterfinal 2: #28 Matt Duchene vs. #29 Milan Hejduk

Two wilcard entries square off in this matchup. Duchene's play defeated the #5 and #12 seeds to get here, while Hejduk's goal took down the #4 and #13 seeds.

#28 Dutchy Finishes Give-And-Go – 1/10 vs Detroit (40.49% in Week 14)
Matt Duchene netted his second goal of the night following a nice give-and-go with Tomas Fleischmann. The sophomore out-muscled Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg for a loose puck at the red line and went on a 2-on-1 with Fleischmann. After taking a pass from Duchene, Fleischmann sent it right back to his linemate for the tally.

#29 Hejduk’s Shootout Winner – 12/30 @ Edmonton (38.53% in Week 12)
The reliable veteran was once again called upon when the Avs and Oilers headed to a shootout, and not surprisingly, he came through. Hejduk skated straight in and beat Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk with a wrist shot to the glove side – a tally that proved to be the shootout’s only goal.

Quarterfinal 3: #3 Matt Duchene vs. #11 Paul Stastny

While the second quarterfinal matchup featured two upset picks, this one is the complete opposite. Both Duchene and Stastny beat a pair of lower seeds on their way to the quarterfinals.

#3 Duchene Downs Sens – 12/17 vs. Ottawa (58.60% in Week 11)
Matt Duchene’s first career overtime goal gave Colorado a 6-5 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Duchene worked a give-and-go with linemate Tomas Fleischmann and received the return pass in the neutral zone before speeding down the ice and sending a wrist shot past goalie Brian Elliott from the lower left circle.

#11 Stastny’s Diving Tally – 10/30 vs. Columbus (49.44% in Week 4)
Just 44 seconds after David Liffiton gave the Avalanche a 3-0 lead over Columbus with his first NHL goal, Paul Stastny added to the cushion on a strong individual effort. Stastny received a pass from Chris Stewart behind the Blue Jackets’ net and circled around in front, where he was met by defenseman Kris Russell. Even though Columbus Russell took out his legs, Stastny was able to toss a backhander past Steve Mason for his fifth goal of the season.

Quarterfinal 4: #15 David Jones vs. #10 Milan Hejduk

The third of Jones' three plays in the quarterfinals takes on the second of two Milan Hejduk goals in this matchup.

#15 Jones Ends It In OT – 1/4 vs Buffalo (46.21% in Week 13)
David Jones played the role of hero against Buffalo when he netted his first career overtime goal. Tomas Fleischmann took a pass from Ryan Wilson at the blue line, carried the puck into the zone and baited defenseman Shaone Morrisonn into dropping to the ice. Fleischmann then skated around the prone blueliner and fed Jones, who one-timed it past Ryan Miller for the game-winning goal.

#10 Hejduk’s Late Tally – 1/8 vs. NY Islanders (49.44% in Week 14)
Time was winding down in regulation and the Avs were trailing the Islanders by a goal when Milan Hejduk found a rebound and used a backhander to beat New York netminder Kevin Poulin with four seconds left. He became the first Av to score a tying goal that late in regulation since Joe Sakic scored with one second left to force OT on Feb. 21, 1997 at Edmonton.
