Center Matt Duchene earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" honors for a nice touch pass he made on Feb. 27 to set up a Kevin Porter goal.
Duchene drew 51.52% of fan voting, beating out a David Jones tally on Feb. 26 against Los Angeles (25.76%) and a Brian Elliott save on San Jose forward Devin Setoguchi during a March 1 contest (22.72%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
A Soft Touch – 2/27 @ Anaheim
Matt Duchene used his speed and soft touch to set up a Kevin Porter goal against Anaheim. Duchene was the first to catch up with the puck in the right corner following a Jonas Holos dump-in. The Avalanche center then made a quick touch pass over to Porter, who deposited it behind Anaheim goalie Dan Ellis.
