Cumiskey To Return Thursday
Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco confirmed following today’s practice that defenseman Kyle Cumiskey (concussion) will make his return to the lineup on Thursday evening when the Colorado Avalanche hosts the Nashville Predators at Pepsi Center.

It was originally thought that Cumiskey might have returned for Tuesday night’s 4-3 overtime victory over the Vancouver Canucks, but Sacco decided it would be in everyone’s best interest if the defenseman took a few extra days to practice and finish working himself into game shape.

Cumiskey last played on Oct. 30 against Columbus and has missed Colorado’s past 35 games.

Sacco also noted that he will make a decision tomorrow morning in regards to which of his defensemen will come out of the lineup with Cumiskey now ready to play.

Anderson To Start
Craig Anderson will receive his third straight start on Wednesday when the Predators come to town.

Anderson has been sharp in his last two appearances, turning aside 32-of-33 shots in Colorado’s 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild this past Friday, and then making 40 saves Tuesday night in the Avs’ triumph over the Canucks.

Anderson has surrendered just one even-strength goal in each of his past four appearances, but allowed two power-play goals against Vancouver and three during a Jan. 8 contest against the New York Islanders.

In 12 career appearances against Nashville, Anderson has posted a 3-4-3 record with a 2.88 goals-against average.

Maintenance Days
Four of Colorado’s top forwards weren’t on the ice today, but it’s no cause for alarm.

Tomas Fleischmann, Milan Hejduk, David Jones and Paul Stastny all took "maintenance days" on Wednesday and Sacco expects each of them to be available Thursday night.
