Matt Duchene earned Avalanche Play of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks, this time for his overtime heroics against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 17.
Duchene's overtime winner (58.60%) topped a Ryan Wilson hit (27.39%) and a Kevin Porter goal (14.01%) during the Dec. 17-23 timeframe.
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Duchene Downs Sens – 12/17 vs. Ottawa
Matt Duchene’s first career overtime goal gave Colorado a 6-5 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Duchene worked a give-and-go with linemate Tomas Fleischmann and received the return pass in the neutral zone before speeding down the ice and sending a wrist shot past goalie Brian Elliott from the lower left circle.
