Colorado Avalanche Seats For Soldiers

Will Host Seats For Soldiers Recipients Monday In Honor Of Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day and as part of the Colorado Avalanche’s ongoing support of the military, the Avalanche organization will host four soldiers from Fort Carson Warrior Transition Battalion at the Avalanche vs. Blues game on Monday, November 15. 

As part of The Colorado Avalanche Seats for Soldiers program, the four servicemen will receive pre-game dinner at the Ridgeline Restaurant, a gift bag, complimentary VIP parking and seats for the game.

The Seats for Soldiers guests include:

Sgt. Christopher Bowker, a native of Great Mills, Md., joined the Army in January 2006. He was deployed to Iraq from December 2007 to February 2009.  His Army awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Valorous Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Army Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge.

Sgt. Jeffrey Meek, from Cheyenne, Wyo., joined the Army in June 2006, after serving nearly 10 years in the Wyoming Air Guard and 10 years in the U.S. Air Force. He deployed to Iraq from May 2007 to July 2008. His Army awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Expert in Rifle, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.

Sgt. Matthew Miller, a native of Dayton, Ohio, joined the Army in February 2006. He has deployed to Afghanistan twice. His Army awards include the Purple Heart, two Army Achievement Medals, the NATO Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War or Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Army Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

Private 1st Class Kyle Bookout, from Cheyenne, Wyo., joined the Army in 2008. His Army awards include the National Defense Service Medal.

About The Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Carson
The Warrior Transition Battalion provides critical support to wounded Soldiers and their families. Soldiers in the unit include those wounded in combat, those injured in a combat zone, or those with serious illnesses. To be in this unit, Soldiers require six months or more of comprehensive, coordinated medical care. The Warrior Transition Battalion prepares Soldiers to transition back to duty or to transition out of the Army as productive veterans in our communities.
