Mueller, who was acquired from Phoenix at the trade deadline on March 3, collected 20 points (9g/11a) with a +4 rating in 15 games with the Avalanche.  Mueller’s 20 points were three more than he had in 54 games with the Coyotes (4g/13a), and his nine goals more than doubled his total with Phoenix (4).  Overall, the Bloomington, Minn., native combined for 37 points (13g/24a) in 69 games between the two teams.

Mueller, 22, tallied points in each of his first seven games with Colorado (4g/7a), joining Theo Fleury as the only players in Avalanche history to record points in their first seven games with the team.  He missed the final four games of the regular season and all six playoff contests due to a head injury suffered on April 4 vs. San Jose.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Peter,” said Avalanche General Manager / Executive Vice President Greg Sherman.  “We look forward to seeing him next week at training camp.”

Selected by Phoenix in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft, Mueller has registered 127 points (48g/79a) in 222 career games in the NHL.  As a rookie in 2007-08, the 6-foot-2, 204-pound center finished second among all NHL rookies with 22 goals and was tied for third with 54 points in 81 games played.

Mueller represented the United States at the 2008 IIHF World Championship in Halifax and Quebec City and also helped lead Team USA to the bronze medal at 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden.
