The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired forward Julian Talbot from the St. Louis Blues organization and also re-signed forwards Philippe Dupuis and Kevin Porter, along with defenseman Ray Macias, each to a one-year contract.  In exchange for Talbot, the Avalanche traded the rights to forward T.J. Hensick.

Talbot, 25, has spent the past three seasons with St. Louis’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.  The Wahnapitae, Ontario native collected 32 points (17g/15a) in 76 games for the Rivermen in 2009-10.  The 6-foot, 185-pound center was originally signed by St. Louis as a free agent on March 19, 2008.

Dupuis, 25, spent most of the 2009-10 campaign with Colorado’s AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, where he tallied 35 points (16g/19a) in 68 games.  The Laval, Quebec native also skated in four games for the Avalanche this past season, recording his first NHL assist/point on Nov. 4, 2009 vs. Phoenix.  Dupuis, who was acquired from Columbus on Jan. 22, 2008, has appeared in 12 career NHL games, tallying one point (0g/1a).

Macias, 23, was Colorado’s sixth choice (fourth round, 124th overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.  He spent the entire 2009-10 season with Lake Erie, notching 17 points (7g/10a) in 52 games.  Macias saw his first NHL action with the Avalanche in 2008-09, notching one point (0g/1a) in six games.  The Long Beach, Calif., native became only the second California-born player to ever play for the Avalanche.

Porter, 24, was acquired by the Avalanche on March 3 and went on to collect three points (2g/1a) in 16 games with Colorado this past season.  He also dressed in four of the Avalanche’s six playoff contests against San Jose.  The Detroit, Mich., native appeared in four games with the Coyotes before the trade (0g/0a) and collected 41 points (16g/25a) in 56 combined AHL games between the Lake Erie Monsters and San Antonio Rampage.  Porter has played in 54 career NHL games, tallying 13 points (7g/6a).  He captured the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as a senior at the University of Michigan (CCHA) in 2007-08.
