MATCHUP 5: #5 T.J. Galiardi vs. #28 Ryan O'Reilly
A pair of short-handed goals go head-to-head, with T.J. Galiardi's tally against the Dallas Stars going up against the first of two shorties by Ryan O'Reilly versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Galiardi’s Second Effort – 1/24 vs. Dallas (57.92% in Week 17)
T.J. Galiardi gave the Avs a 2-0 lead over Dallas with the first short-handed goal of his career. After poking the puck away from Dallas defenseman Matt Niskanen just inside the blue line in the Avs’ defensive end, Galiardi raced up the right side before cutting toward the middle on a breakaway. The rookie’s initial attempt was stopped by Marty Turco, but Galiardi knocked home his own rebound.

O’Reilly A Little Short – 2/2 vs. Columbus (43.62% in Week 18)
Avalanche rookie Ryan O’Reilly pulled off a rare feat, scoring two short-handed goals against the Columbus Blue Jackets during a four-minute double-minor penalty to Paul Stastny. On this play, the first of O’Reilly’s short-handed efforts, the rookie took a feed from T.J. Galiardi at the blue line and cut to the net before firing a perfectly placed shot past Mathieu Garon.

MATCHUP 6: #12 Matt Duchene vs. #21 David Jones
The first career goal from rookie Matt Duchene takes on a nifty David Jones feed in this first-round matchup.

Duchene’s First Goal – 10/17 @ Detroit (45.43% in Week 3)
Matt Duchene netted his first NHL goal in a victory over Detroit. The rookie got the puck at the Avalanche’s blue line and made a quick move to work his way around Justin Abdelkader. Coming up the right wing, Duchene beat Chris Osgood with a shot from the top of the right circle.

Jones Cross-Ice To Hejduk – 11/25 vs. Nashville (39.89% in Week 8)
Milan Hejduk’s team-leading 11th goal of the season tied the Avalanche with the Predators, 2-2. Defenseman Kyle Quincey dumped the puck into the offensive zone, where it eventually ended up on the stick of forward David Jones. Seeing Hejduk open on the opposite side of the ice, Jones threaded a pass over to his linemate for the score.

MATCHUP 7: #13 Matt Duchene vs. #20 Brandon Yip
Another Duchene tally - this one a spectacular individual effort against Dallas - faces off with Brandon Yip's first career goal.

Duchene Goes 1-on-3 – 12/29 @ Dallas (45.42% in Week 18)
Matt Duchene’s vast skill set was on full display on this play against the Dallas Stars. Duchene gathered the puck and turned on the jets, weaving through three Dallas defenders before beating Alex Auld blocker side.

Yip’s First Goal – 12/22 vs. Anaheim (40.53% in Week 12)
Rookie Brandon Yip netted his first career NHL goal in just his third game. Yip first chipped a Brett Clark pass into Anaheim’s zone, where it was gathered by Matt Hendricks. Yip then skated into the right faceoff circle, where he took a return pass from Hendricks and fired a low shot past Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller.

MATCHUP 8: #4 Ryan Wilson vs. #29 Ryan O'Reilly
A wildcard entry by rookie Ryan O'Reilly goes up against a big hit by fellow rookie Ryan Wilson.

Wilson Crushes Oshie – 12/7 @ St. Louis (60.53% in Week 10)
After receiving a pass from Carlo Colaiacovo near the Avalanche blue line, T.J. Oshie looked to carry the puck into the offensive zone. However, Oshie was met by rookie defenseman Ryan Wilson, who threw a thundering hit on the St. Louis forward.

O’Reilly’s Deflection – 4/18 vs. San Jose (37.44% in Week 27)
After over 60 minutes of scoreless play, Game Three ended in odd fashion. Avalanche rookie Ryan O’Reilly was aggressively forechecking as Sharks blueliner Douglas Murray left a pass for his defensive partner Dan Boyle. Boyle tried to throw the puck back into a safe area behind his own net, but O’Reilly reached out his stick and got just enough of the puck to send it toward the San Jose goal. There, it slipped by an unsuspecting Evgeni Nabokov to give Colorado a 1-0 win.
