Avalanche Injury Updates - April 21
After playing three overtime games in five nights – and due to the physical nature of postseason hockey in general – Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco elected to keep his team off the ice on Wednesday.

But before the Avs jumped on their charter flight to head to San Jose for Game Five of their Western Conference Quarterfinal series, the head coach provided a handful of injury updates to the media.

Winger Milan Hejduk (upper body) will not travel to San Jose for Game Five, where the Avs will look to take a 3-2 series lead on Thursday evening. Hejduk was injured just 2:06 into Game Three on Sunday when he collided with teammate Paul Stastny at the Sharks’ blue line during a Colorado power play. The veteran did not dress during Game Four on Tuesday.

However, Sacco did say he was “hopeful” to have Hejduk back at some point in the series.

While Hejduk won’t return tomorrow night, forward Kevin Porter (upper body) could. The 24-year-old will be available after missing the last two games with an injury suffered during Game Two.  Porter was hurt on a hit along the boards by San Jose defenseman Douglas Murray.

Also of note, Peter Mueller (concussion) will not accompany the team on its one-game trip, while David Jones (knee) will also stay behind to continue his rehabilitation.
