Budaj To Start Against St. Louis
Peter Budaj will start in goal for the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday when the club faces the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center (6:00 p.m. MT/Altitude 2).

For Budaj, it will mark his first action since suffering a loss in a Jan. 8 contest at Carolina. The netminder has started eight games this season and appeared three times in relief, posting a 4-4-1 record with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.

With the Avalanche looking at back-to-back contests (Colorado will host Calgary on Wednesday evening at Pepsi Center), Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco decided to give Craig Anderson a well-deserved night off.

Anderson, coming off a heroic 48-save performance in Colorado’s 5-3 victory over Dallas on Sunday afternoon, had started 23 consecutive games, the longest streak in Avalanche history. The netminder has set career highs in games (60), starts (60), wins (35), shutouts (7) and minutes (3593) this season.

Yelle, McLeod Out Tonight
In other news, two Avalanche forwards who were injured during Sunday’s game in Dallas (and were originally listed as questionable for tonight's game) won't play against St. Louis.

Both Stephane Yelle and Cody McLeod went down in the first period with leg injuries yesterday. Yelle’s injury was the result of a missed body check along the boards, while McLeod’s injury came after blocking a point shot.

Yelle was injured on his first shift of the game, went to the dressing room and later returned for two shifts before being shut down for the afternoon.

McLeod, meanwhile, blocked a shot approximately 6:30 into the game and then had to drag himself to the bench. After being helped to the locker room, the winger also returned for two shifts later in the opening period before being sidelined for the remainder of the game.
