Stastny’s Thoughts On The Game…
“It was great. We got so close to winning. It could go either way when you’re in overtime playing against Canada. You couldn’t ask for anything more except for a win. It went against us but you have to congratulate them because they had an unbelievable tournament. I thought we did too. But we were so close but at the same time it just didn’t go our way.”

On Momentum…
I thought we had a ton of momentum in overtime. I don’t know if they were sitting back but we had a bunch more chances in the third to tie it up. Anytime you score with 30 seconds left it’s going to change the momentum of the game. In overtime it could have gone any way. I think both teams were pressing instead of sitting back. Obviously they played pretty well in overtime and didn’t really sit back. They came up with a big play at the end and scored a nice goal.

On Being Part Of A Possibly Historic Game…
It’s hard to say now. You don’t really think about things like that, that’s something you do years from now. But it was a good game and was fun to be a part of. It would’ve been better if we got the gold but it doesn’t go your way every day.

On If There Was Anything Said Before Overtime…
We all knew what we had to do. We were playing well. It was a good game the whole way. Neither team dominated. Both teams had their chances. I thought we had momentum and were excited. I guess (Ryan) Kesler had one that hit off of (Roberto) Luongo’s head there. But they made a nice play there with (Jarome) Iginla and (Sidney) Crosby and it was a nice goal.
