ColoradoAvalanche.com is asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."
Goals by Chris Stewart and Kyle Cumiskey (both set up by Paul Stastny) and a late-game stand by Craig Anderson are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Jan. 25 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Stastny Sets Up Stewart – 1/16 vs. New Jersey
After receiving a pass from Wojtek Wolski, Avalanche assistant captain Paul Stastny found a lane and dished the puck off with a cross-crease pass to Chris Stewart. The power forward knocked Stastny’s feed past New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur for his 15th goal of the season and a 1-0 Avalanche lead.
Andy’s Late-Game Stand – 1/16 vs. New Jersey
With the Avalanche up a goal late and New Jersey on a power play, the Devils also pulled goalie Martin Brodeur for a 6-on-4 advantage. But Avalanche netminder Craig Anderson was up to the task, making multiple saves in order to preserve a Colorado victory over the top team in the Eastern Conference.
Cumiskey’s First Of Two – 1/18 vs. Edmonton
Kyle Cumiskey recorded his first career multi-goal effort against the Oilers. On this play, the defenseman picked up the puck at center ice and raced into the offensive zone before backhanding a pass over to Paul Stastny. Stastny made a quick return feed to Cumiskey, who tapped it in for his first goal of the evening.
