Wilson\'s Hit Named Play of the Week
Ryan Wilson earned "Avalanche Play of the Week" honors for another big body check, this time on New York Islanders forward Nate Thompson.

Wilson's hit, which earned 45.06% of fan votes, beat out tallies by T.J. Galiardi (35.16%) and Chris Stewart (19.78%), both of which came against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Wilson Levels Thompson – 1/6 vs. NY Islanders
Ryan Wilson has gained a reputation for throwing big open ice hits during his rookie season and this play fit right into that mold. As Thompson carried the puck up the left wing, Wilson lined up the Islanders forward and greeted him with a hard body check.
