Avalanche Recalls Durno, Yip
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled forwards Chris Durno and Brandon Yip from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Yip, 24, missed the first two months of the season due to a hand injury suffered during a preseason game on Sept. 18 at St. Louis.  He made his professional debut with Lake Erie on Dec. 1 and has gone on to record two goals in six games with the Monsters.  Colorado’s seventh selection (eighth round, 239th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft, Yip spent the past four seasons at Boston University (Hockey East), where he helped the Terriers win the 2009 NCAA championship as a senior.

Durno, 29, is being recalled for the fourth time this season.  He has collected two points (0g/2a) with a +2 plus/minus rating in nine games with the Avalanche this year.  The Scarborough, Ontario native has tallied 18 points (10g/8a) in 17 games with the Monsters, ranking him second on the club in scoring.  He is tied for first on the Monsters in goals.

The Avalanche also announced that forwards Justin Mercier and Ryan Stoa have been reassigned to Lake Erie.
