Rink Notes - November 7th
Some news from Saturday’s practice, which was optional for the Avalanche.

-Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco gave an update on the status of John-Michael Liles.

Liles, who suffered a shoulder injury in the first period Friday night and did not return to the game thereafter, has a sore shoulder and did not skate today. During his sixth shift, Liles took a cross check in the back (which didn’t draw a penalty) and was slow to get up.

“There’s no timetable. I don’t think it’s going to be anything long-term,” said Sacco. “It’s going to be on a day-to-day basis right now.”

Sacco added that Liles will not play during Colorado’s game against Edmonton tomorrow night at Pepsi Center.

-Liles’ absence means that Ryan Wilson will be in the lineup for the Avalanche’s contest against the Oilers. With Liles out, the Avs have six healthy defensemen on the roster.

-Defenseman Tom Preissing will remain on his conditioning assignment with the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters.

“Tommy is going to stay,” said Sacco. “He was scheduled to play Friday and Sunday. He’ll be back on Monday, so we’ll stick with that plan.”

-Both Ruslan Salei (back) and Darcy Tucker (head) took part in the optional practice while wearing orange non-contact jerseys.

-Craig Anderson will start in goal versus Edmonton.
