The camp, which runs from Aug. 7-15, is used as a barometer for selecting players to represent the United States at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. The 2010 World Juniors will be held from Dec. 26, 2009 to Jan. 5, 2010 in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan.

Maxwell, 18, was the Avalanche's sixth-round selection (154th overall) in this year's draft. He spent the past two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program, based out of Ann Arbor, Mich. A 6-foot, 195-pound netminder, Maxwell posted a combined 22-14-1 record with a 3.11 goals-against average and .891 save percentage while playing for the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams.

The Winter Park, Fla., native led Team USA to a bronze medal at the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championship by posting a 4-0-1 record with a .926 save percentage and a 2.21 goals-against average in five contests.

Maxwell is scheduled to spend this season with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.
