Avalanche Play of the Week - Dec. 19-25
Let your voice be heard in selecting Colorado’s “Play of the Week” each week during the season.

For the second consecutive week, all three plays came from the same contest - Colorado's 5-4 overtime victory over Phoenix on Dec. 23. Plays from Milan Hejduk, John-Michael Liles and Brett Clark are this week's nominees.

We’ve offered up three choices, and now it's your turn to choose the top play by voting on the poll below or on the homepage of At the end of the season, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine – once again, through fan voting – the Avalanche’s “Play of the Year”.

Check out this week’s three nominees, and be sure to vote for your favorite by Monday at 12:00 p.m. MT.

Hejduk Chips It Home - 12/23 vs. Phoenix
Milan Hejduk gave the Avs their first lead of the night at 7:06 of the second frame. Ryan Smyth beat Ed Jovanovski to a loose puck before sending a centering feed to Hejduk, who was cutting through the slot all alone. The puck ended up directly between the forward and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, and both proceeded to poke at it. Hejduk was just an eyelash quicker, tipping the puck just past the Phoenix netminder for his 13th tally of the campaign.

Liles Pinches In - 12/23 vs. Phoenix
Only seconds after a Colorado penalty had expired early in the second period, Detroit’s Brian Rafalski sent a hard pass down low to Pavel Datsyuk, who was stationed to Andrew Raycroft’s right. The netminder was lining up to stop a possible shot from Datsyuk, but the forward instead dropped a pass to linemate Henrik Zetterberg in the left faceoff circle. Zetterberg blasted a one-timer, but Raycroft snared the puck with his glove to maintain Colorado’s 2-0 lead.

Clark's OT Winner - 12/23 vs. Phoenix

Early in the third period, with the Avs up 2-1, Colorado was awarded a penalty shot after Detroit defenseman Brett Lebda covered the puck in the Red Wings’ crease. Avalanche head coach Tony Granato tabbed Jordan Leopold to take the attempt, and the defenseman didn’t disappoint. Leopold skated toward Osgood, keeping the puck on his forehand to present the threat of a quick shot, before quickly shelving a backhand attempt for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
