Avalanche Play of the Week - Dec. 12-18
Let your voice be heard in selecting Colorado’s “Play of the Week” each week during the season.

In a first this week, all three plays came from the same game - Colorado's 3-2 victory over Detroit on Dec. 15. Plays from Wojtek Wolski, Andrew Raycroft and Jordan Leopold are this week's nominees.

We’ve offered up three choices, and now it's your turn to choose the top play by voting on the poll below or on the homepage of At the end of the season, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine – once again, through fan voting – the Avalanche’s “Play of the Year”.

Check out this week’s three nominees, and be sure to vote for your favorite by Monday at 12:00 p.m. MT.

Wolski Strikes Early - 12/15 @ Detroit
The Avalanche took an early lead against Detroit and never looked back thanks to this tally from Wojtek Wolski. The forward picked up a Red Wings turnover and then streaked toward the Detroit goal, where he received a soft feed from Tyler Arnason. Wolski waited until the last possible second to grab the puck and then put a swift move on Chris Osgood before depositing a low shot just 1:07 into the game.

Raycroft Stops Zetterberg - 12/15 @ Detroit
Only seconds after a Colorado penalty had expired early in the second period, Detroit’s Brian Rafalski sent a hard pass down low to Pavel Datsyuk, who was stationed to Andrew Raycroft’s right. The netminder was lining up to stop a possible shot from Datsyuk, but the forward instead dropped a pass to linemate Henrik Zetterberg in the left faceoff circle. Zetterberg blasted a one-timer, but Raycroft snared the puck with his glove to maintain Colorado’s 2-0 lead.

Leopold's Penalty Shot - 12/15 @ Detroit

Early in the third period, with the Avs up 2-1, Colorado was awarded a penalty shot after Detroit defenseman Brett Lebda covered the puck in the Red Wings’ crease. Avalanche head coach Tony Granato tabbed Jordan Leopold to take the attempt, and the defenseman didn’t disappoint. Leopold skated toward Osgood, keeping the puck on his forehand to present the threat of a quick shot, before quickly shelving a backhand attempt for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
