Smyth Screens for Liles – 11/2 vs. San Jose
After breaking hard into the offensive zone, Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles took a pass from Milan Hejduk and – using Ryan Smyth’s screen – wristed a nicely placed shot past San Jose netminder Evgeni Nabokov.

McCormick Hits Sopel – 11/3 at Chicago
Cody McCormick displayed the type of grit he brings to the Avalanche’s lineup when he put a big hit on Chicago defenseman Brent Sopel late in the first period of their Nov. 3 matchup.

Budaj Denies Kane - 11/3 at Chicago
After gathering a cross-ice feed from Martin Havlat, Chicago forward Patrick Kane found himself all alone just to the left of Avalanche netminder Peter Budaj. Despite having a seemingly open net, Kane was robbed by Budaj, who moved right-to-left quick enough to make the stop.
