SUNDAY STREAK OVER
The Avalanche had won 11 consecutive Sunday home games prior to a 5-4 loss to the Sharks on Sunday evening. It was the first time Colorado had dropped a Sunday home game since April 9, 2006. The Avalanche was 7-0 at home on Sundays last season.
Colorado’s success on Sunday got us to thinking, what is the Avalanche’s best day of the week? Well, since moving to Denver in 1995-96, the Avs have won more games on Saturday than any other day (103 victories). However, they have also played more games (203) on Saturday than any other day. Thus, the club’s highest points percentage on a single day is actually Tuesday (84-35-13-3 for a .681 winning percentage). Listed here is a breakdown of Colorado’s record by day of the week.
By Day GP W L T OTL Pts%
Monday 105 56 31 14 4 .619
Tuesday 135 84 35 13 3 .681
Wednesday 155 84 50 16 5 .610
Thursday 155 77 51 18 9 .584
