McCormick\'s Goal Named Play of Week
The votes were tallied and you, the fans, chose Cody McCormick’s goal against Philadelphia as the Avs’ “Play of the Week” for the period of Oct. 9-17. McCormick’s tally received 48.5% of the voting, beating out Joe Sakic’s goal against Edmonton (33.1%) and Paul Stastny’s pass to set up Ryan Smyth’s marker against Calgary (18.4%).

McCormick’s goal now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans.

Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

McCormick’s Work Pays Off – 10/16 vs. Philadelphia
The Avalanche’s aggressive forecheck was on full display during the club’s 5-2 win over the Flyers. Cody McCormick first knocked the puck away from a Philadelphia defenseman near the blue line, which David Jones then corralled before rewarding a cutting McCormick with a nice pass for the forward’s first goal of the season.
