Farm Report: Lake Erie Putting up Points
After dropping a 3-1 decision to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday (Jan. 9), the Monsters bounced back in a big way by topping the Philadelphia Phantoms, 5-1, on Friday evening. A total of 11 Lake Erie players recorded points in the contest, with Brad Richardson (1g/2a) and David Jones (1g/1a) leading the way. Netminder Tyler Weiman stopped 31-of-32 shots to earn his sixth victory of the season.

The Monsters again had 11 players record points in Saturday’s 6-4 loss to the Hershey Bears. Jeff Jillson tallied three assists, while Richardson (1g/1a), Jones (1g/1a) and T.J. Hensick (2a) each had multi-point efforts.

Lake Erie wraps up a four-game road swing on Friday against Syracuse.

-University of Michigan goaltender Billy Sauer’s shutout streak ended at 206 minutes, 14 seconds, during the Wolverines’ 6-1 win over Western Michigan University on Friday. -Miami (Ohio) University junior Justin Mercier notched the game-winning power-play tally – his 17th goal of the season – in the RedHawks’ 6-3 victory over the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Friday and followed up with an assist on Saturday night. Mercier is tied for seventh in the nation in goals-per-game (0.71).

-Boston University freshman Kevin Shattenkirk registered his second multi-point game of the season in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the University of Maine. The defenseman assisted on a first-period goal, while his tally in the second frame proved to be the game-winning marker.

-University of Minnesota sophomore Mike Carman recorded an assist Saturday in his second contest of the season, a 4-4 tie with St. Cloud State University.

-Nigel Williams recorded his second consecutive multi-point game on Thursday in Belleville’s 5-1 win over the Barrie Colts.
