Avalanche Announces 2007-08 Pee Wee Team
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced the 2007-08 Colorado Avalanche Pee Wee representative, Littleton Hawks Pee Wee AA.  Littleton earned this opportunity by scoring a late goal and winning the Colorado Avalanche Quebec Qualifier Tournament Championship game by a 3-2 score against the Foothills Flyers.  The 2007 Colorado Avalanche Quebec Qualifier Tournament, which hosted all 10 eligible Pee Wee AA teams from the Colorado Competitive Youth Hockey League, was held October 26-28 at APEX Ice Arena and November 2-3, 2007, at Pepsi Center.

The Littleton Hawks will hold the title of Avalanche Pee Wee team for the third time during the 2007-08 season, as they have held the title previously in 2001-02 and 2005-06.  Littleton compiled a 5-0 record during tournament play with wins against Arapahoe, Colorado Springs, Front Range, and two against Foothills. Littleton’s roster of 18 players includes Domenic Turgeon, son of former Avalanche player Pierre Turgeon, who also serves as an assistant coach for the team.

The 2007-08 Colorado Avalanche Pee Wee team will participate in the 49th Annual Quebec International Hockey Tournament held in Quebec City from February 14-24, 2008.  Each year the tournament hosts 110 teams from 14 countries, and is known world-wide as one of the largest and most prestigious Pee Wee hockey tournaments.  The tournament has hosted players that developed into NHL stars including Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy, Mario Lemieux, and Wayne Gretzky.

By becoming the Avalanche Pee Wee representative, the team receives full sponsorship by the Avalanche organization including travel, lodging, complete Avalanche uniforms and travel gear for the Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament.  The players gain immense hockey experience by playing in the tournament, but some of the best experiences for the players comes through the billeting process.  This process, which takes players and pairs them with Canadian families, provides additional experiences and creates relationships that players will remember for a lifetime.  The host families act as their personal guides of historic Quebec City and provide insight into the distinctive Quebec culture.
