Sakic Passes Bourque For Ninth All-Time In Points

With an assist on Thursday night in Phoenix, Avalanche captain Joe Sakic moved past Ray Bourque for ninth place on the all-time scoring list with 1,580 career points. Next up is Phil Esposito with 1,590.
NHL ALL-TIME SCORING LEADERS
Sakic moved into 10th place on the all-time scoring list with three assists on Jan. 1 in Nashville, passing Paul Coffey (1531). Sakic's 1,580 points lead all active players and are the fifth highest total for a single franchise in NHL history, trailing only Gordie Howe (1809) and Steve Yzerman (1755) with Detroit, Mario Lemieux with Pittsburgh (1723) and Wayne Gretzky with Edmonton (1669).
Sakic is currently tied with Dino Ciccarelli for 15th on the all-time goal-scoring list with 608. Sakic ranks 11th all-time in assists with 972. The Avalanche captain scored his 600th goal on Feb. 15 at Calgary, becoming just the 17th player in NHL history to reach that milestone. Joe recorded his 1,500th career point on Oct. 25 vs. Washington, becoming the 11th player to reach that mark.
