DENVER - The Avalanche announced Wednesday that the team has signed forward Brett Hemingway to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). Hemingway will report to Colorado's American Hockey League affiliate in Albany, N.Y.

Hemingway, 23, just completed his senior season at the University of New Hampshire, where he finished fifth on the Wildcats with 32 points (13g/19a) in 36 games. Brett's 13 goals tied for third on the team, as he helped New Hampshire capture the regular season Hockey East title. He ranked second on the Wildcats in power-play goals (5) and third in game-winners (4).

The Yorkton, Sask., native was Colorado's sixth choice (225th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He compiled 134 points (61g/73a) in 150 career games at New Hampshire.
