Skrastins Out 7-10 Days

DENVER - The Avalanche announced Tuesday that defenseman Karlis Skrastins will miss 7-10 days with a knee sprain suffered during the third period of last Saturday's game in Los Angeles.

"An MRI test done Monday confirmed that it's a knee sprain," said Avalanche Head Athletic Trainer Matthew Sokolowski. "With a week of rehabilitation and treatment he should be ready to go."

After sustaining the injury, he was scratched from the Avalanche lineup Sunday night in Anaheim, ending his NHL-record consecutive games played streak by a defenseman at 495.

In a related move, the Avalanche recalled defenseman Kyle Cumiskey from the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Albany, NY. Cumiskey appeared in nine games previously for the Avalanche, including his first career NHL game on January 1. He tallied his first NHL goal and point on January 6 in Minnesota.

Cumiskey has recorded 23 points (5g/18a) in 39 games with the Albany River Rats this season.
