NEW YORK (January 20, 2007) -- The Colorado Avalanche will mark the 500th sellout crowd since the franchise moved to Denver with Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings at Pepsi Center. In acknowledgement of the milestone, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman released the following statement:
"Over the years, it has become a foregone conclusion that the fans expect excellence from the Avalanche players and that the players expect no less of themselves. Unified by this common mindset and distinguished by a passion for success, the fans and players have forged a truly formidable relationship that is a source of pride for the organization, for the community, and for all of us at the League. Five hundred sellouts in fewer than 11 seasons truly is a remarkable accomplishment. We congratulate the Avalanche, and their great fans, on achieving this milestone together."
