Avalanche, Salvation Army Kick Off 2006 "Red Kettle" Campaign
The Salvation Army, in conjunction with the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club, kicked off the 2006 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign prior to Wednesday's game between the Avalanche and Anaheim Ducks at Pepsi Center.
The Salvation Army hosted a pre-event outside Pepsi Center with a Salvation Army band and the Starlighters Precision Drill Team from the Red Shield Community Center to kick-off The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign; meanwhile, The Salvation Army band played festive Christmas music while the fans pour into Pepsi Center.
"The Salvation Army is delighted to have the Colorado Avalanche and their fans as part of our Red Kettle campaign efforts to kickoff our annual celebration. This is an excellent way to ring in the holiday season and kick-off our Christmas Kettle campaign. We would especially like to thank Kroenke Sports Enterprises for a wonderful partnership opportunity and to reach out into the community in such a big way," said Lt. Col. Raymond Peacock, divisional commander for the Intermountain Division.
In addition, Head Coach Joel Quenneville, and Assistant coaches Jacques Cloutier and Tony Granato will ring bells at the kettle at 16th and Tremont on Friday, November 24th from 2-3pm. They will be joined by a band playing Christmas music.
The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign in Denver provides food, clothing, and toys for over 23,000 people in need in metro Denver during this holiday season and an additional 30,000 people throughout the year.
