With his first period assist against the Capitals on Oct. 25, Joe Sakic became the 11th player in NHL history to record 1,500 career points.
He became just the sixth player to record 1,500 or more points with one franchise, joining this elite group.
Sakic is the first player to reach the 1,500-point milestone since Pittsburgh's Mario Lemieux on Dec. 30, 2000, in the second game of his comeback following a retirement of 3 ½ -years.
Sakic is the active leader in career points. He's followed on that list by Rangers' Jaromir Jagr (1,445), Colorado's Pierre Turgeon (1,320), Pittsburgh's Mark Recchi (1,271) and Rangers' Brendan Shanahan (1,242).
