Wolski To Play In OHL All-Star Game
The rosters were selected by the management teams of Jeff Twohey of the Peterborough Petes and Alan Millar of the Sarnia Sting. The teams will be coached by London Knights' coach Dale Hunter, who guided the London Knights to the OHL and Memorial Cup Championship last season, and Ottawa 67's coach and general manager Brian Kilrea, who coached the 67's to the Eastern Conference championship last year.
The rosters include eight players who won the gold medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships earlier this month including Steve Downie of the Peterborough Petes and Benoit Pouliot and Marc Staal of the Sudbury Wolves, who will represent the Eastern Conference. David Bolland of the London Knight, Ryan O'Marra and Michael Blunden of the Erie Otters, Ryan Parent of the Guelph Storm and Tom Pyatt of the Saginaw Spirit will represent the Western Conference.
Americans Robbie Schremp of the London Knights and Bobby Ryan of the Owen Sound Attack also played in the World Junior Championships earlier this month in B.C.
Colorado Avalanche prospect Wojtek Wolski was named to the Eastern Conference Team. Wolski, who tallied two goals and four assists in nine games with the Avalanche this season, currently leads the Brampton Battalion with 50 points in 29 games (16g, 34a).
Goaltender Kevin Lalande and defenceman Matt Kelly of the Belleville Bulls will play in the game on home ice.
"The player's who were named today to represent the Ontario Hockey League in our All-Star Game demonstrate the high level of talent that we have playing in our league," said David Branch, Commissioner of the OHL. "The player selection process is always difficult and we are very proud to be represented by these young men at this special event. We are also looking forward to hosting the All-Star Game in the city of Belleville. The support that the entire Quinte area has shown for the OHL and the Bulls is nothing short of outstanding and we are very proud to bring this showcase event to the City of Belleville."
As part of the Belleville Bulls 25th anniversary celebrations around the All-Star event, graduates Marty McSorley and Craig Billington will be on hand as special guest speakers during the luncheon and as honourary captains during the All-Star Game.
